Essentials Of The Faith / Adult Sunday School Class / The Sovereignty Of God

Him?"
A. Abraham's bargaining over Sodom and Gomorrah
Gen 18:23-33 "Will you sweep away the righteous with the
wicked? v23
(DIALOGUE: 50? 45? 40? 30? 20? 10? NOT 10)

disaster on your people. v12
Then the Lord relented." v14 (ORIGINAL PLAN EXECUTED)
C. Hezekiah's prayer for extended life
2 Ki 20 "I will add 15 years to your life."
1. Problem
Job 14:5 "Man's days are determined; you have decreed the
number of his months and have set limits he cannot
succeed."
2. Better if prayer not prayed? (MANASSEH BORN)
IV. Application
A. Let's remember
1. When a life situation doesn't seem to fit Biblical teaching, do not
question Biblical teaching, rather,
re-examine the life situation in the light of the Biblical teaching.
2. Ask for grace to accept what we cannot change, (personal
limitations, personal appearance, past experiences,
or present circumstances) and work on changing what God wants you to
change (destructive behavior, bad attitudes,
harmful habits or a loose lifestyle).
3. Do not compare yourself with others, knowing God's plan for each person is unique.
4. Be thankful Someone greater than you is in ultimate control, then
tell God how grateful you are that one of
His attributes is sovereignty.
B. A suggested prayer for serious Christians:
"Father, I'm yours. You can do anything you want to with me, any
time you want to do it, any way you want to do it,
for any purpose you want to accomplish. Now flood my soul with Your
peace. I thank You in Jesus' name. Amen."
C. Hymm: "God Lead His Dear Children Along"
"Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright
God leads His dear children along.
Sometimes in the valley in the darkest of night
God leads His dear children along."
Some thru the water, some thru the flood
Some thru the fire, but all thru the blood.
Some thru great sorrow but God gives a song
In the night season and all the day long.'
