"But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day." —Proverbs 4:18
In Free Grace theology, righteousness isn't something we earn by our efforts but a gift received when we trust Jesus Christ for eternal life. At the moment of faith, the "light of dawn' illuminates your soul—not due to your deeds, but because of His completed work.
This verse promises that the Christian life is a journey of growing illumination.
Security in the Light: The Believer doesn’t have to fear the darkness of judgment, because our path is established by God's decree.
Growth without Pressure: Just as the sun doesn't "struggle" to rise, our spiritual growth is a natural result of abiding in Christ and His Word.
The Full Day: Our path leads toward the "perfect day"—the day of glorification when we will see Him face to face, and the light of His grace will be fully realized.
Today, if you feel like you are walking in a "fog," remember that the light of Christ in you is like the morning sun. It may start as a faint glimmer, but it is destined to grow. You are not "becoming" righteous to earn God's favor; you are walking as a righteous child of light because you already have it.
I had a professor in Bible College, Dr. Alden Gannett, who taught the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. I’ll never forget a class where he taught how to live in victory. He simply said, “Walk! Walk! Walk in the power of the Holy Spirit!” Great advice then, great advice now!
Father, I thank You that my relationship with You is secure through Christ. Guide me to walk in Your grace today, trusting that You are guiding me toward a more joyful and abundant day. Amen.
Gene
