If your last name begins with a Z, you probably found yourself at the end of the roll call and often the last pick in baseball or football teams. However, being last isn't always a negative; even Jesus considered the best as 'last' in John 2:10. Our church has already explored this scripture while studying John’s Gospel. Allow me a moment to reflect specifically on this verse.

10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”

As you can see, Jesus also saved the best for last! What I want us to contemplate today is that Jesus often takes pleasure in delivering the unexpected to those who might overlook it. I could explore various angles concerning that statement, but it's essential to recognize that regardless of what challenges you face (and it’s not always the case), Jesus frequently waits for the right moment to arrive when we see few solutions ahead. Throughout my journey, I’ve discovered that Jesus has met my needs in the most unconventional ways, and He has done so with great boldness. Why is this the case? I would suggest it’s because He reminds us and others that it was Him, not ourselves, who secured the victory.

What victory do you seek today? Pray and ask Him for His best regarding your current situation, especially if you feel stuck without a solution. Remember, He is never late; often, He waits to respond until the last moment because we are too stubborn, trying to solve it on our own strength.

In a local grocery store, there was an older lady who found herself in a difficult situation. As she waited for her total to be calculated, she expressed concern to the cashier that she might not have enough on her EBT card to cover all her items—and unfortunately, she was right. She asked the cashier to return the eggs. At that moment, a gentleman waiting behind her stepped forward and paid for her groceries, including the eggs. The impact of this act was profound, not only for the woman but also for the cashier, who remarked that he had never seen anyone do something like that for another person. The man who made the payment said, "God has blessed me, and He wants me to bless her." In essence, friends, Jesus appeared and saved the best for last for that woman.

Like that gentleman, ask yourself: how will I allow God to show up through me today?

Blessings,

Gene
