5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has risen. —Luke 24:5-6a
Resurrection Sunday is just around the corner in 5 weeks. I thought it would be appropriate for us to consider the question that changed everything for mankind.
The women arrived at the tomb carrying spices, expecting to find a body. Their devotion was touching, but it was rooted in a funeral mindset. When the angels asked, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?" they weren't just giving a location update—they were gently helping to shift their perspective.
It’s common for us to cling to hope in what’s gone by, searching for meaning in old habits, past regrets, or versions of ourselves that no longer live. Sometimes, we fixate on the stone and the grave, forgetting that we serve a God of the empty tomb—one who brings new life and fresh beginnings.
Resurrection Sunday is a joyful reminder that Jesus isn’t just a figure from the past to mourn, but a vibrant presence waiting to be discovered. If you ever feel trapped in a maze of "what-ifs" or overwhelmed with "it’s too late," remember the angel’s comforting message. You’re searching in the wrong place. He’s not in the tomb of your past; He’s ahead of you, inviting you into a beautiful new life.
Lord, I humbly ask for Your forgiveness for searching for life in places that are lifeless. Please help me to raise my face from the ground and behold the radiant light of Your glorious resurrection. Guide me to walk confidently in the power of the living Christ today. Amen.
Seeking His Life in me,
Gene
