This morning, here in New Jersey, we find little drops of water falling from the sky. Which reminds me of Psalm 118:24: 24 This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

This morning, many individuals are on the freeway, parkway, or streets heading to work. Most of us follow this routine, traveling the same routes where we frequently arrive feeling tense due to other drivers. Today, or perhaps tomorrow since I may not have given you enough time to adjust your route, consider taking a different path—one that offers scenery to help calm you before the workday begins.

I read about a woman named Judy who, feeling frazzled by her usual freeway route, decided to explore an alternative way to work. Here’s what she said after a week of taking a different route:

“I’m not sure if I have a better workday because I approach it more gently rather than racing to it.” "Some mornings, I miss all the beautiful things nature offers as I focus on the busy day ahead, mentally drafting my to-do lists. However, when I take a moment to appreciate the roses along the way, I feel revitalized, just as our mothers hoped we would with a good breakfast, mittens, and hats.”

So, if not today, perhaps tomorrow you can take a different route. As you do, take a moment to thank the Lord for the beauty of His creation; it might just be what you need to begin your day on a positive note!

Blessings on your journey,

Gene
