"The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.” — Proverbs 8:13

True wisdom treasures God so deeply that opposing His nature becomes intolerable. While we often see "the fear of the Lord" as gentle respect, this verse shows it also means to hate what God hates.

The "fear of the Lord" is not terror but "settled, joyful awe". Standing before holiness reveals sin as destructive—ruining families, careers, and breaking hearts. You cannot love both God and sin; they can't coexist.

Pride and Arrogance: The Root of all sin—placing yourself on God's throne, thinking you're "better than" others. The Way of Evil: Our Habits—repeated sinful patterns we grow comfortable with. Perverted Speech: Words reveal the heart, including lies, gossip, contrary talk, and flattery.

Hating evil isn't about anger at the world; it’s a war within ourselves to honor God. We can't improve on our own, but drawing closer to the Lord sharpens our conscience and strengthens our resolve.

Holy Father, forgive me for being comfortable with what You call evil. Deliver me from pride that I don't need Your help today. Remake me by Your Spirit to be holy and truthful. May I love what You love and despise what separates me from Your light. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
