“So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell the disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, ‘Greetings!’ And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.”
—Matthew 28:8-9
We had such a wonderful day yesterday at our church, rejoicing together with one heart and voice, singing 'He is Risen, He is Risen indeed!' Now, as the day after, things often feel much quieter. Someone once said that after the resurrection, the “earthquake has settled, the stone is rolled away, and the initial shock is transforming into a new, enduring reality.' It’s a beautiful reminder of the lasting impact of that glorious day.
For the disciples, the Monday after Easter was the first day of a world where death no longer had the final word.
Notice how Jesus warmly meets the women right in their "fear and great joy." He doesn't wait for them to be completely calm; instead, He gently comes to them amidst their excited rush. His first words are a simple greeting—a "hello" that truly changed history.
Today, as you return to your usual routine, a job, or lingering worries that didn't vanish on Sunday, remember that the greeting of Jesus still resonates. He's not just a memory to honor once a year; He is a living Presence walking right beside you in everyday moments. Because the tomb remains empty today, your hope is firmly grounded. You can reach out and worship Him right where you are, feeling His presence in your daily life.
Lord, I thank You that the joy of the Resurrection isn't just confined to a calendar day. As I begin this day, please help me to truly live in the reality of Your victory. When I start to feel overwhelmed, gently remind me that You are alive, You are with me, and You have already overcome the world. Amen.
Go in His Unstoppable Finished Work,
Gene
